This group gathers every week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 12 am. It is open for everyone who wants to learn basic Finnish. This diverse and low threshold language group is led by voluntary language guides who help the students learn the language. Learning is both individual and interactive. The language guide does not have to be a teacher. In the learning situation you go through the learning material, look for answers to the questions and get to know the language according to the needs of the learner. Everyone who is interested in working as a voluntary language guide are welcome to join the ABC group.
Participants are mostly immigrants and refugees. Volunteers can take care of any participants’ while participants are learning Finnish. The aim of ABC group is to support immigrant’s language learning and integration into Finland.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays there is a repetition group (Toisto), in which you can learn Finnish basics effectively within a safe environment. In the group you listen, speak and repeat. This method is suitable for all people whether they are academically educated or illiterate.
Finnish conversation group
In this group we discuss common issues in Finnish. The aim is to build courage to talk and increase vocabulary. The group meets on Thursday from 5 to 6 pm.
The English language group is divided into two small groups: one learns the basics of the language and the other discusses different topics of interest. The English language guide has volunteer assistants. The group can learn simultaneously both English and Finnish. The group will meet on Wednesdays from 3 pm to 4.30 pm.
In English conversation group you can practice your speaking and listening skills. The group meets on Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

Language learning groups can be set up according to people’s wishes and needs. The groups operate voluntarily. The group is started by someone who is interested in teaching the language in question, either a native speaker or someone with good command of the language.
In language café you can speak different languages in small groups and find new friends in a laid-back atmosphere. Language café is held on a Thursday once a month from 5 to 7 pm. Languages may change, but usually there is at least tables for English, Somali, German, Arabic, Persian and Spanish.
